Water is a scarce resource in Namibia, the driest semi-arid country in Southern Africa. Thus, Water-saving is our social responsibility. Our sparsely-populated country has seen a succession of droughts since 2013. Luckily Namibia has had a favourable rainy season this year in some parts of the country which could not have come at a better time. With all that water falling from the sky, it almost feels like a waste just letting it fall to the ground.

This is where a great water storage solution called the JoJo water tank comes in. The tank which comes in sizes 1800 and 2400 Litres simply stores some of that downpour. Which shrinks your environmental footprint by reducing your demand on existing infrastructure. Storing water in a tank can also cut your water bill in the long term. Usually, it is feed from a catchment area, most commonly the roof, where rainwater is funnelled through gutters and pipes into a tank. Having a rainwater tank requires a high standard of guttering made from specific materials, as well as having a number of filters and screens to stop the unwanted matter from entering the water system.

Pool:

JoJo Backwash tank is designed to take the backwash water from your pool into the tank. It allows the water to settle and drain clean water back into your pool. The leftover dirty water can be used to water your garden. The perfect way to save water and enjoy your pool.

Watering Your Garden:

Using rainwater tanks is the perfect way for you to create the garden of your dreams and keep it green all year round.

Washing Clothes:

Water stored in your tank can be used to wash your laundry. You can also use the water tank for washing outdoor items such as lawn equipment or porch furniture. To save yourself a relatively large amount of water, you can connect your washing machine directly to your tank. This eliminates any water from getting stuck in the pipes and not being used.

Water to Flush the Toilet:

Flushing the toilet is an absolute necessity. If you do not have water to flush the toilet, you can be exposed to bacteria that can make you very sick. You will also want to use this water for taking a shower, bathing, and washing dishes on a regular basis, as well. On average, a toilet will use 12 litres every time you flush. This adds up to about 210 litres a week, depending.

Emergency Uses:

Putting out fires counts as emergency use. You do not want to be without water if something goes up in flames. Water tanks are great for this purpose, and it’s highly recommended that you have a backup tank in case you run out in your main tank. Of course, for small fires, it is great to have a fire extinguisher, as well. When your rainwater system is installed correctly and plumbed into your home, it could save up to 40% of your drinking water supply.
