Waste Management Initiatives

Turning Trash to Gold

Waste management is a pressing national issue and poses a significant threat to human and environmental health. It is an important practice for the sustainable development of any city. Environmental protection is central sustainable and inclusive growth, and to protect the most vulnerable of populations, whether against COVID-19, biodiversity loss, pollution, or climate change. Most importantly is that recovery efforts need to be green, resilient, and sustainable. The typical office environment creates significant amounts of waste whether it be paper or cardboard. We at Pupkewitz Megabuild think that when some waste cannot be prevented, recycling is the next best option.

Recycled Paper Saves Trees

We use a wastepaper box known as File 13 to recycle all the unwanted paper. The box which can hold 1 tonne of paper which can save 17 trees. Our staff also recycles its old envelopes by reusing them several times. The staff also use the scrap paper for notes and memos by cutting each piece of paper into fourths.

Caging All the Recyclables

Another effort by us is to promote green initiatives is the placement of recycling cages at its stores where all the paper, cardboard, plastic, and other recyclables are thrown in. These items are then placed in a skip container which is collected by one of Namibia's leading waste management companies Rent-A-Drum.

It's the Little Things that Matter

Saving the Planet One Coffee Cup at a Time

It starts with the little things such as encouraging staff to bring along their favourite reusable mugs for a cup of coffee instead of using paper cups which for every 6 billion paper cups used for coffee every single year, 6.5 million trees are cut down. We want to save the planet one coffee mug at a time.

Recycle Ink Cartridges

Recycling ink cartridges and toner ink help reduce landfill waste which is known to cause water and air pollution. Additionally, reusing the same ink cartridge reduces the depletion of natural resources like oil, petroleum, timber, minerals, and water used to manufacture them. We always send our empty ink cartridges to our supplier to be refilled. This way we can ensure that the recycle, reuse, and reduce process is maintained.

Being Part of a Greater Cause

Globally organizations are going green to help save the planet. Reducing waste in the workplace through reuse and recycling efforts has a positive impact on the environment. Less office waste means less trash in landfills. Making for a cleaner environment. We apply these waste management measures because we believe that it is our responsibility to ensure that waste is recycled which in turn helps to protect the environment for future generations. By instilling the morals of recycling into our own lives, community, and children we can create increased awareness on the necessity to prevent waste and recycle.

Each one of us can make a difference.
Together we make the change.
