What started as a nationwide challenge between branches became one of the memorable highlights of our 80th anniversary celebrations.

The Megabuild 80th Birthday National Volleyball Tournament 2026 brought colleagues together from across the country for weeks of competition, teamwork and branch pride all leading to the National Finals in Windhoek.

From the very beginning, the tournament was about more than volleyball. It was an opportunity to strengthen relationships, promote employee wellness, have some fun and celebrate 80 years of Megabuild together.

From 23 Branches to One Champion

The tournament kicked off in July, with teams competing through regional group stages across Namibia. All 23 Megabuild branches were invited to take part, with regional winners progressing towards the national knockout stages.

As the competition intensified, eight teams emerged from the regional rounds representing teams from Windhoek Katima Mulilo, Ondangwa, Swakopmund and Keetmanshoop.

2026 Champions: Megabuild Ondangwa Thunders

After weeks of competition, Megabuild Ondangwa Thunders emerged as the champions of the 2026 Megabuild 80th Birthday National Volleyball Tournament.

From the regional qualifiers all the way to the National Finals, the Thunders fought their way through the competition to earn their place on the Megabuild Trophy and N$8000 worth of teambuilding prize money.

But they were not the only team to leave their mark on the tournament.

More Than a Tournament

Looking back at the photographs, some of the best moments happened beyond the scoreboard.

It was teammates celebrating a point. Colleagues cheering from the sidelines. Branches proudly representing their teams. Players giving everything they had on the court – and still sharing a laugh afterwards.

That was the spirit behind the tournament from the start: teamwork, participation, healthy competition and bringing our people together.

Across Namibia, our people came together to compete, support one another and create memories beyond the workplace. And in a year in which we celebrate eight decades of Megabuild, it was another reminder that our story has always been built by people.
